DKA Annual Awards

DKA Awards are presented at banquet during Conclave and Convention. During banquet, we will recognize the highest achieving chapters, members, and alumni who have done outstanding work in their chapters and communities.

Nominations are now open!
Please read the award descriptions below, and nominate whomever you believe should receive this award. You are able to fill out nominations for multiple awards.

Awards To Apply For

ALLEN K. DALLAS ALUMNI RELATIONS AWARD

This award is presented to the individual who develops and implements the best alumni relations program for their chapter.  This award is named for Honored Founder and first leader of the organization, Allen K. Dallas, who believed that the most important aspect of Delta Kappa Alpha is fellowship between undergraduates and alumni members.

HERBERT L. STROCK AWARD

The Society’s highest undergraduate honor, presented annually to the most outstanding graduating senior in Delta Kappa Alpha. The award memorializes former national president Herbert L. Strock, Southern California, Alpha Chapter, ’40, who as a graduating senior and chapter president drafted in August 1943, but remained the most selfless, hardest-working member in the Society up until his flight and immediately upon his return.  After serving his country, he arrived home and immediately ran for National President.

JASON CORTEZ MEMORIAL INTERCHAPTER AWARD

The Jason Cortez Memorial Interchapter Award is awarded to undergraduate members who go above and beyond to foster interchapter connections. In his life, Jason worked tirelessly to form genuine connections and friendships with DeKAs across the country and maintained those friendships with a great deal of attention and care. We honor Jason’s legacy by recognizing students who share his same propensity for connecting others.

DELTA AWARD

This award is intended to recognize outstanding service by an alumnus/alumna to their own chapter. The alumnus/alumna must have served the chapter for a minimum of three years.

JACK H. MCCLELLAND UNDERGRADUATE MEMORIAL AWARD

This award is presented to the undergraduate, who, by their actions, has shown leadership and a true understanding of fellowship. It memorializes Honored Founder and First National President Jack H. McClelland. Candidates must have at least one year of school remaining to be eligible.

HOWARD G. KAZANJIAN CHAPTER PRESIDENT'S AWARD

This award recognizes a chapter president for general administrative excellence and commendable leadership. It is named in honor of Howard G. Kazanjian.

COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

This award recognizes outstanding work in philanthropy and community service events that are sponsored by the chapter/associate chapter, projects that are done cooperatively with other organizations, or community service work that is done by individual members.

BOARD OF GOVERNORS AWARD

Recognizes those Boards of Governors who have made outstanding contributions to the Resident Council. This award can be used by the undergraduate officers to thank the Board of Governors who have made their chapters more effective.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AWARD

Recognizes an associate chapter or chapter for their most effective, well-rounded, and substantial professional development program and curriculum. Award criteria considerations include program excellence, curriculum materials and documents, entertainment industry and business skill-building, services provided to non-members on campus, and recommendations of the faculty advisor submitting the award.
